Welcome to The TPS Report, home to video game blogs, mix sets and even the odd piece o' 3D art.

Broke arse student, freelance games reviewer and rambling obsessive that I am, I currently seek work in mags and web sites throughout the world. If you're in a position to make that happen - and like what you see around here - let me know. I've published work with the likes of IGN and Gaming Steve.

Revenge of the Sith Second Trailer Hits the Web!
Posted by Diggler - 11/3/2005 12:34

More Yoda lightsaber craziness coming our way in this one?
While I own and enjoy the other two Star Wars prequels, no one could ever say they were perfect films. Watching this new trailer for the third and last Star Wars flick though, it looks to be in a complete league of its own. I was expecting it to be good, but certainly not this good. This looks to be the dark, epic sci-fi classic we all were expecting of the Star Wars prequels.

The trailer is bouncing around the web right now in various different formats. If you've yet to see it, I'd grab it now while you can, before the LucasArts stormtroopers tear every single link down in an outrage of copyright violations (it's supposed to be exclusive to paying StarWars.com members).

For the jaded former fans who refuse to watch it however, let me detail some of the many highlights for you...beware of spoilers.

The film will kick off in space above Coruscant
It starts off with some beautiful sunset views of Coruscant playing over an exchange between soon-to-be Emperor Palpatine and battle-hardened Anakin. "The Dark Side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural", begins Palpy, to which Anakin replies, "Is it possible to learn this power?". With a smug look on his face, Palps responds, "Not from a Jedi".

From there we get a condensed montage of mistrust and unrest among the Jedi council regarding the two of them, culminating in what appears to be the Jedi storming Palpatine's office in an attempt to arrest him. At this moment he springs to life as Darth Sidious, there's a flash of red lightsaber, and all goes black.

Clonetroopers now look more like the good old stormtroopers
We then see the most epic of Star Wars shots in quick succession. Super Star Destroyers battling in space, Obi-Wan in a brawl with General Grievous, Wookies at war, all that sweet stuff.

This is all well and good, but then things take a massive turn towards the Dark Side and things kick into overdrive. Palpatine, after switching to full on "melted face" Emperor mode, commands Anakin to wipe out every last Jedi, and we see one of the most kick-arse images of the saga yet, as evil Anakin marches into battle with a squad of Stormtroopers behind him.

I'm getting major flashbacks to the final battle in Return of the Jedi
Then all hell breaks lose. Palpatine lobs furniture at Yoda, Chewie gets pissed, Padmé cries, and Obi-Wan yells to an almost-Vader Anakin, "You were the chosen one!" before a fiery volcanic backdrop (moments before the big plunge, one has to assume).

Man, Georgey Peorgey sure knows how to cut a trailer doesn't he? As a bonus, he's officially stated he now expects Episode III to garner a PG-13 rating on release, a pleasing thought to adult Star Wars fans who want to see lightsaber massacres on a grand scale.

In the meantime you can grab this trailer via BitTorrent from Internapse.
